When you have a few tricks under your sleeve, life isn’t nearly so complex. I have found that there are many articles of everyday uses which are lying around everybody’s house just screaming to be used to build something creative. I’ve used a handful of them for years, but I was astonished at how many I hadn’t considered. Let’s make life a little bit simpler! I’ve put together a list of creative applications for items you undoubtedly already have around the home.

To Secure Screws, Use Clear Nail Polish

Nail polish acts as an invisible adhesive, keeping those sometimes-loose screws in place. Another tip: If it’s too late and you’ve misplaced your screw, a little earring stud will keep it together until you can replace it.

To Secure Buttons, Use Clear Nail Polish

Button threads can also be kept from unraveling with a dab of clear nail polish. In the unfortunate scenario that you don’t have a sewing kit on hand, you may use it as a preventative measure or to halt a frayed thread.

Cleaning In Between Keys With A Makeup Brush

An old cosmetics brush is the ideal size for cleaning dust and little Doritos crumbs from between the keys on your keyboard.

Stopper for Rubber Band Latch

The use of a rubber band prevents a door latch from being opened. It’s ideal for a baby’s room door that needs to be kept quiet or if you don’t have your hands free to turn the knob when going in and out of a door. This may come in handy on moving day!

Paint Scraper using a Rubber Band

Stretch a rubber band around the paint container and use it to wipe extra paint off of your brushes to keep the edges clean for a simple clean-up and sealing.

Earring Holders Made of Buttons

Keep those earring pairs together with buttons! This is not only beneficial for traveling, but it will also make it simpler to locate your jewelry in your jewelry box if you have a huge collection.

Pipe Cleaners as a Slip-Resistant Aid

This is a constant issue for me, particularly with my wide-mouthed shirts. Wrap pipe cleaners around the ends to prevent them from falling off, and I’ve also seen this done with broad rubber bands twisted around the top and bottom of both ends of the hanger.

As a money clip or keychain, use a binder clip

First things first, here is what you need to do, use a binder clip to hold your paper money and then attach your keys. This would be a convenient solution for places like amusement parks where you don’t want to carry your purse or wallet.

As A Photo Protector, Use Light Bulb Packaging

Most light bulbs come with packaging that protects images and papers from bending in the shipping. Simply remove the internal cardboard from the crease, and it will fold.

Cord Labels as Bag Closures

It might be difficult to figure out which wires correspond to which gadgets with all of the numerous connections we have connected into our power strips these days. To help with the confusion, label them with bag closures.

As A Drip Catcher, Use A Muffin Wrapper

If you have kids, you know how much of a mess it can be to give them a popsicle. Use a muffin liner and create a small hole at the bottom of it with the end of a popsicle stick; slide it up, and you won’t have to worry about how many drips you’ll have to mop up water off the furniture, floor, and their clothing.

As A Jar Cover, Use Muffin Liners

If you have small jars, you will absolutely adore this use of muffin liners! They’ll make wonderful presents if you finish them up with a lovely ribbon and/or label.

As a Shoe Cover, Use A Shower Cap

I’m not sure whether I’ve ever used a shower cap, but for some reason, I’ve developed a tiny collection of them from hotel freebies. Before putting your shoes in a bag, use them to cover the soles. This prevents dirt and filth from contaminating the rest of your packed belongings!

As A Scoop Scraper, Use Tape

To achieve a precise level scoop, place a piece of masking tape over the top of baking containers. This allows you to scoop with one hand, and the tape is thin enough that the lid can be replaced without having to remove it.

Shower Hooks Can Be Used To Organize Closets

Hang purses, scarves, hats, ties, belts, and whatever else your closet requires on those handy shower hooks!

To Clean Baseboards, Use Dryer Sheets

Why would you use dryer sheets to clean your baseboards? Because they will not only leave your home smelling wonderful, but the fabric softener will also act as a dust repellant, which means you will have to clean less often.

Soap Scum Can Be Removed Using Dryer Sheets

Water stains AND soap scum! They are the most difficult and aggravating aspect of cleaning any bathroom. I’m not sure what it is about dryer sheets that help to eliminate these two annoyances, but it seems to work! Plus, they don’t smell as bad as that terrible soap scum remover.

Plastic Bag Storage in a Tissue Box

Repurpose those lovely boxes to keep plastic bags when your tissues run out! They are ideal for dispensing just one bag at a time. This is a great idea for those little doggie poo bags.

As a fabric iron, use a hair straightener

Most of the time, irons work well, but what about minor hems, shirt straps, or in between buttons? A hair straightener is considerably simpler to fit into these tight areas. You can also use one to iron crumpled ribbons and textile belts and smooth them out.

As An Ice Bucket, Use A Colander

No more diluted beverages! Now your party attendees may scoop ice as the water drains into a bucket or bowl below via the colander.

As A Funnel, Use A Plastic Bottle

Save the plastic bottles and cut the bottoms off to use as funnels. Instead of attempting to fit the bird seeds into the top of a little bird feeder with that enormous weighty bag, this is so much better. Keep the lid on so you can fill it, and then take it off when you’re ready to pour.

As A Coffee Sleeve, Wristband

A bracelet or the top of an old sock can shield your hands and fingers from scalding coffee just as effectively as a coffee sleeve. Why is it that these glasses are usually so hot? More than tofu hotdogs, the first sip terrifies me.

As a Purse Cleaner, Use A Lint Roller

With a few short swipes with a lint roller, you can say goodbye to all of those loose particles that have taken over the interior of your handbag. It’s impossible to say how long those crumbs have been there!?

As A Cord Organizer, Use A Hair Clip

If you are a computer user or anybody who has to deal with wirings and cables, you must know that it is a very frustrating venture to untangle cables, this can cause unwanted fatigue. Hair clips may be used to keep cables attached to their owners.

As A Dish Divider, Use A Desk Organizer

Using a desk file organizer, keep your kitchen pans, trays, and cutting boards upright. Having them piled on top of each other in a pile makes them considerably more difficult to reach.

As a Candle Holder, Use A Wine Glass

By threading one end of each necklace through a straw and then fastening it back together, you can keep your necklaces from tangling.

As A Place Card, Use A Paint Chip

Paint chips are available in a wide range of colors. This makes it simple to match your theme to a party table. This one serves as both a napkin holder and a place card, but you could also fold them in half and write the name on one side with a Sharpie before placing them at each place setting.
